The My Body Is Beautiful Movement
Simply put the My Body Is Beautiful Movement is a celebration and a changing in thinking about how we view our bodies and its capabilities during our reproductive years specifically during pregnancy, labor, birth, and as mothers. The need for such a movement is vital as the maternal mortality rate in the US is the highest of all developed countries. This rate is high due to a number of reasons including the high incidence of interventions during birth, how we care for our bodies, and access to quality care. How we view ourselves before and after birth dictates what we allow to negatively impact our lives and our bodies.
As women our bodies are an amazing and complex asset! We are the most dynamic POWERHOUSE there is! We are capable, we are equipped, and we have been powering life since creation. My Body is Beautiful was born from a passion to empower and support women and young ladies on their journeys of womanhood, pregnancy, birth and motherhood.
Our goals are to:
- Empower women and young ladies through education, mentorship, and advocacy.
- Build a national network of support groups
- Aid in lowering the Infant Mortality & Maternal Morbidity Rate through community engagement, education, and advocacy so that women can make informed decisions about their care.
- Aid in social change by engaging community resources and policy makers
My Body Is Beautiful is your canvas. We would love for you to share your stories and your voice about your journey!
